Chateau de Fieuzal

Chateau de Fieuzal

One of the most valued growths of the Graves, Chateau de Fieuzal stems from the talent exerted through three centuries of winegrowers in love with their trade on an exceptional soil. Formerly known as Gardares, the Fieuzal family, who owned the Chateau until 1851, left their name to the vineyard. At that time, the vineyard comprised both Fieuzal and Haut-Gardare. Succeeding the Fieuzal family, the Griffon brothers bought and shared the estate. One of them, the owner of the Chateau Haut-Gardare was the Consul of the Pope in Bordeaux. Through him, the Vatican knew how to appreciate the qualities of Graves wines. Pope Leon XIII, completely enthralled, filled his cellars with bottles of Chateau de Fieuzal 1893, a quite exceptional vintage!
