Chateau Sociando Mallet

Chateau Sociando-Mallet is located in the Haut Medoc appellation of Bordeaux. A true recent success story of the region, it was purchased as a five hectare property in 1969 by Jean Gautreau, and now has 85 hectares under vine, producing nearly 500,000 bottles of wine per year. It has the typical terroirs of the Medoc with gravelly soils resting on a deep clay base. This terroir allows the Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen fully in excellent conditions whilst allowing the Merlot to acquire depth and complexity, and ensures a perfect regulation of water supply. With an average age of 30 years, the grape varieties grown at Chateau Sociando-Mallet are 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
