Cariñena is a Spanish Denominación de Origen (DO) used for the wines of Aragon, located in the north of Spain. The region's climate is continental, with extreme seasonal and daily temperature variations. The cold northernly wind ‘El Cierzo’ helps to moderate high summer temperatures and keep humidity low. Cariñena produces a wide variety of wine styles, ranging from oak-aged reds to dry white wines, fruity rosés and sweet Moscatels. Macabeo, Tempranillo and Garnacha are the dominant varieties.
