Coastal Region - South Africa

The Coastal Region is the most important wine-producing region of South Africa. Although it's a large region, the most prominent wine-growing areas are concentrated around the Cape Peninsula and the Northern Cape. The combined influence of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans is the most important climatic feature in the Coastal Region. The Mediterranean climate helps to ripen the grapes during the day whereas the cold nights ensure that the flavor profiles and the acidity of the wines are maintained.
