Antinori 2022 Releases

Antinori 2022 Releases

Marchese Antinori is one of the most prominent producers in Italy; a trailblazer known for their three iconic Super Tuscan wines: Tignanello, Solaia, and Guado al Tasso.

Nevertheless, outside of the stratospheric field of Super Tuscans, there are many other fine estates and wines within the Antinori portfolio that offer excellent value for money. These are predominantly the second wines of said great wineries and where the real value is, such as Chianti Classico Riserva (Tenuta Tignanello), as well as Cont'Ugo (from Guado al Tasso in Bolgheri) as well as the famous single-vineyard Barolo 'Bussia' (from Piedmontese stalwart Prunotto).

Tenuta Tignanello is situated in the heart of the Chianti appellation and produces two world famous Super Tuscans: Tignanello and Solaia. This Chianti Classico Riserva is made from grapes sourced only from the Tignanello vineyard and the blend is predominantly Sangiovese together with a small percentage of complimentary varieties.
A great introduction to the Marchese Antinori portfolio!

Prunotto, Barolo 'Bussia' 2017 | £290 IB (6x75cl)

Based in the city of Alba, Prunotto boasts a rich history dating back to 1923. The Antinori family started to distribute the wines in 1989, and later took over production in 1995 maintaining the excellent standards of founder; Alfredo Prunotto. Bussia is a 7-hectare site planted with 100% Nebbiolo. It is one of the best single vineyards in the region thanks to its amphitheatre shape and south-southwest exposure on loam-sandy Tortonian soils, which produces elegant, ripe and luscious Barolo.

"The 2017 Barolo Bussia is a dark, sensual wine that captures all of the nuance that makes the best wines from Barolo so beguiling. Spice, menthol, sage, licorice and dark cherry fruit all open in the glass. The 2017 is deep and layered, yet also remains light on its feet. I especially admire the transparency here." Drink 2024-2034. 94/100 points. Antonio Galloni (Vinous)
