Vignerons des Terres Secrètes: Burgundy's Best Kept Secret Bon Coeur Fine Wines

Without doubt Vignerons des Terres Secrètes is one of the best value co-operatives in the Mâconnais, based in the village of Prissé and what I often refer to as 'Burgundy's best kept secret'. They look after 910 hectares belonging to 120 growers and have a real connection with the land, producing excellent wines at affordable prices.

The Bourgogne Aligoté is well worth a try for something different, although my personal star of the show is the Saint-Véran, which has impressive balance and energy throughout. For those who like screw caps, we have done a special bottling of the Mâcon, which is available in stelvin closure.

Mâcon Blanc

"Attractive, pure nose of lemon citrus fused with peach and apricot. Fresh and vibrant acidity provides structure and focus, leading into a core of further lemon citrus and white stone fruits. Very well-balanced, with a creamy, smooth finish."

Bourgogne Aligoté

"Fresh and vibrant nose of lemon citrus and ripe melon. A touch more weight on the palate with hints of creamy peach, wild honey and almonds. Great energy and freshness on the mid-palate, a very versatile Burgundian white."

Saint-Véran

"Intense nose of exotic fruit fused with white blossom and acacia honey. Wonderful purity that compliments the multi-layered core with flavours of pineapple, peach and citrus that all fuse together with energetic, refreshing acidity. A touch of cinnamon spice on the finish seals the deal. Bravo."

Pouilly-Fuissé

"Concentrated nose of tropical fruits such mango and pineapple with added spice. Richer, rounder and more generous than Saint-Veran on the palate, with a luscious, creamy texture and 'totally tropical' core of juicy melon and guava, ending with a touch of spice and wild honey on the lingering finish."
