Bordeaux En Primeur 2014 - The Final Day

Day 6 started with a short drive from Bordeaux Centre Ville to Chateau La Mission Haut Brion which is across the road from Haut Brion and we tasted the Domaine Clarence Dillon wines which includes Chateau Quintus as well has La Mission and Haut Brion.

From La Mission we headed to Domaine de Chevalier for a private tasting with Remi Edange who is Olivier Bernard's 'right hand man'. It was the fourth time that I managed to taste the Domaine Chevalier Rouge and each time it got better and better (naturally you would expect the sample at the Chateau to be fresher) as well at the fabulous Clos du Lunes whites.
From Chevalier we headed down the motorway to Chateau D'Yquem where we tasted the fabulous 2014 for the second time before racing back to the airport and sadly having to miss Berenice at Climens for a barrel tasting however Hamish, who organised the Chateau visits on my behalf is writing up his notes for us..”80% of the wine came from the 2nd picking… great acidity, orange peel zest…

My flight was delayed by over an hour so not only could I have made the Climens tasting but I also missed my creamy pint of sophisticated Theakston's Best Bitter at the White Bear!
