It seems that everywhere you move in Yorkshire you can’t help but bump into some form of distillery. Whether it be whisky, gin or vodka Yorkshire is experiencing a boom in distillers.
One of the oldest is Masons of Yorkshire, releasing their first batch of gin on World Gin Day in 2013. Since the initial run of 120 bottles the husband-and-wife duo at the heart of the business, Karl and Catherine, have gone on to create a distillery that can produce 250,000 bottles of gin and vodka annually. Despite one of their stills exploding in 2019 and the switch to producing hand sanitiser during the COVID pandemic Masons are still going strong, producing superb spirits of quality right here in North Yorkshire, using traditional copper pot stills and Harrogate Spring water.
