December is upon us and the festive season is in full swing! Here at Moor Park our decorations are up, and our elves are busying away making sure Christmas orders are filled and presents sent to every corner of the UK. To help celebrate the festive spirit we’ve curated a selection of some of our favourite wines to help you celebrate this special time of year. Merry Christmas from everyone at Bon Coeur!
Sumaridge Pinotage, Hemel-en-Aarde, South Africa 2016
December is a time of dark nights and cold evenings, and we have just the thing to warm you up. Hailing from Hemel-en-Aarde in South Africa this Pinotage has spent 12 months in small oak barrels and a further 7 years bottle ageing, the result is a complex and full-bodied red perfect for pairing with those rich and hearty winter stews and roast dinners.
Taste: Powerful and well-structured, full of dark forest fruits such as plum, cherry and cassis with silky smooth tannins.
Try: I first had this wine with a traditional South African oxtail stew which worked wonderfully. Pair with big and meaty stews or roast lamb and beef Sunday roasts.

Castello Banfi La Lus Albarossa, Piedmont, Italy 2020
Albarossa is a new grape varietal made by crossing Nebbiolo and Barbera, beautifully showcased here by Castello Banfi, one of only four producers using the varietal in Piedmont. `La lus` means light in the local Piemontese dialect, a reference to the wine’s new grape variety.
Taste: An elegant and refined red wine, notes of cherry and blackcurrant dominate with soft tannin providing structure and depth of flavour.
Try: This would be a perfect accompaniment to pork or game dishes. For those of you daring to roast goose this Christmas this may well be the perfect pairing.

Villa Wolf Pinot Gris, Pfalz, Germany 2021
Germany’s Pfalz region is best known for Riesling, but it excels with other aromatic whites too. Pinot Gris (richer than wines labelled by its synonym Pinot Grigio) is another stand out grape. Villa Wolf Pinot Gris is made in a full-bodied, dry style with fresh, unoaked fruit and a crisp texture. Half of each vintage is made in large, neutral oak casks for depth and complexity. The other half is done in stainless steel to preserve freshness and enhance the vibrant fruit.
Taste: Fresh and mineral with citrus and lemon, a medium bodied white with notes of herbs and white flowers.
Try: With enough weight to hold its own the citrus and mineral nature of this whine should help to cut through the fattiness of pork or dishes served with a rich cream sauce.
£14.98 DECEMBER OFFER £11.50
Zuccardi Los Olivos Chardonnay, Mendoza, Argentina 2021
One of Argentina’s most pioneering wineries and now stewarded by the third generation of this wine making family, Zuccardi are one of the top producers in South America. Their Los Olivos range was created in honour of the noble olive tree, as much a part of the Zuccardi family as the vines themselves. These wines are a perfect introduction to the style of the Uco Valley, showcasing its wonderful minerality.
Taste: A balanced dry white wine with aromas of fresh peach and citrus. A wonderful vibrant fruity character with a touch of minerality.
Try: Pairing this wine with a nice piece of salmon or trout, especially en croute.
