Louis Latour Grand Ardeche Chardonnay, France 2020

Maison Louis Latour is one of the most innovative producers in Burgundy whilst maintaining its traditional image. In 1979, they expanded their operation into the valley of the Ardèche river with its clay and limestone-based soils. It was chosen as the ideal location to produce top-quality Chardonnay wines. The Grand Ardèche comes from the best vineyards, carefully selected every year when harvesting begins. The grapes are pressed and the must is placed immediately in oak barrels made by the cooperage at Latour, where the wine will age for approximately 10 months, like the great wines of Burgundy.

Why we love it...

An unbeatable `Burgundian style` wine that could easily be mistaken for £20-£30+ White Burgundy!

All about Grand Ardeche...

The Grand Ardeche is treated as if it were grown in one of the Grand Cru vineyards of the Cote d’Or. Fully ripened grapes are selected and pressed lightly before being aged in oak barrels made at the Latour cooperage in Beaune. Often mistaken for a top quality white Burgundy when tasted blind.

Tastes like...

Charming aromas of lemon, green apple, and melon fuse with white flowers and toasted almonds. Round, ample and generous on the mid-palate underpinned by bright, lively acidity and focus that leads through into a core of further citrus and white stone fruit with added white pepper and vanilla spice.
