Viu Manent Secret Viognier 2020

The family-run Viu Manent has been breaking new ground for wines of the Colchagua Valley since its foundation in 1935. We have picked their Secret Viognier as our wine of the week as we believe it represents this thoroughly modern, sustainable winery in all it’s glory.

Why we love it...

It's an aromatic and fragrant alternative to Chardonnay.

The Story of Viu Manent

Viu Manent is owned by the Viu family. It was founded in 1935 when the Catalonian immigrant Miguel Viu-García and his two sons Agustín and Miguel Viu-Manent founded Bodegas Viu in Santiago de Chile. Since 2000, the winery has been in the hands of the third generation of the family with Jose Miguel Viu and their aim still rings true now as it did almost 100 years ago - to produce outstanding wines that are consistent in quality. The winery is committed to sustainable wine making practices, and the preservation and respect for the environment is integral to their philosophy.

Tastes like...

Bursting with bold exotic stone fruit flavour and delicate white flowers. Well-rounded palate, fresh with very good balance leading to a long attractive finish. This is a white with structure and tremendous personality from vines with an average age of 14 years.

Pairs well with...

Try with a Moroccan chicken tagine, cooked with dried apricots and served with toasted slivers of almond.
