Malbec
Malbec is a red grape variety producing fruit with a dark, inky colour and robust tannin. In France the majority of the plantings can be found around the town of Cahors, in the south-west. These wines produce the darkest and most tannic expressions of the grape. In the New World, Argentina has proven itself to be at the forefront of Malbec production, and wines from here will have pure, dark-fruit and peppery, spicy character. Malbec is known for textural flavours of blackberry, plum, chocolate and tobacco.
