Sauvignon Blanc
Originating in Bordeaux, Sauvignon Blanc has now established itself in many of the world's wine regions, producing a crisp, dry, and refreshing white varietal wine with a distinct flavour profile. The most well-known examples come from Sancerre and Pouilly Fume in the Loire Valley, and from Marlborough in New Zealand where a grassy, herbaceous style is produced. In Bordeaux it is blended with Semillon to make the sweet wines of Sauternes, and crisp dry wines that can be as excellent as they are expensive.
