Just an hour from Venice near the Dolomite Mountains, you’ll find the UNESCO World Heritage Site and the prosecco region of Valdobbiadene. Terre di Sant`Alberto is located in the heart of the Valdobbiadene with 10-hectares of Glera vines nestled among the beautiful, rolling hillsides of Veneto. This is five generations of winemakers, Isabella`s family, Ruggeri, pioneered prosecco in the region and has fostered the largest community of winegrowers in Veneto. Maintaining relationships with over a hundred local producers — many of them third-generation growers, this is a truly a community affair, caring for and living with the land and growing the grapes. It’s no surprise that Ruggeri holds the honor of being one of the most awarded brands for consistently creating outstanding prosecco. This pioneering spirit is on full display with the newest generation, Isabella Bisol. As a young winemaker, she has broken boundaries and become an undisputed force in the wine industry. Isabella maintains the standard of excellence that her grandfather Giustino Bisol established so many years ago. Read more about Isabella and her families winery in our meet the winemaker series now online in the Wine Insider section.

Prosecco, Valpolicella, Soave and Amarone are all products enjoyed around the world and their contribution to Italian wine is well documented and significant. Located in the north-east corner of Italy, centred around the city of Verona, Veneto has many important wine producing areas and more than a quarter of the output is sold as high-quality DOC and DOCG wine. Many grape varieties have homes in Veneto, and the region produces the full range of styles, from crisp whites to inky reds and sweet wines like Recioto, an intense dessert wine made from sun-baked shrivelled grapes. In the reds fruity, easy-going Valpolicella contrasts with the intense, dark wines of Amarone, while crisp, linear Pinot Grigio and always favourite sparkling Prosecco, made from the Glera lead the charge for Venetos whites. Other important grape varieties include Garganega, used to produce the sophisticated white Soave wines.

Made in the Veneto region of northeast Italy Prosecco is often aromatic and crisp with yellow-apple, pear, white peach and apricot flavours alongside subtle aromas of blossom and citrus.
