Italian Fine Wine

With hundreds of indigenous grape varietals to choose from and a wide range of climates in which to grow the grapes, Italy is a fine wine lovers paradise. There are world class producers making extraordinary wines throughout Italy.  Northern Italy has always been a bastion of great wines, especially the Piedmont region. Here Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto grapes reign supreme creating powerful yet perfumed and elegant wines from the villages of Barolo, Barbaresco and Alba. There is plenty of choice in the Veneto too with Amarone and Valpolicella, both known as rich and complex wines made with partially dried grapes and don’t forget the beautiful refined whites from Gavi (Cortese) and Soave (Garganega).

In Central Italy, Tuscany produces a wide range of exciting and highly sort after fine wines with incredible aging potential from the chameleon Sangiovese grape and also international varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc (Super Tuscans). With fine wine prices increasing in France and reduced allocations, Italy offers attractive investment opportunities as the market develops and diversifies.
