Rose Champagne
Rose Champagne is seen as the epitome of elegance and the ultimate romantic gesture. It can be produced in both non-vintage or vintage styles and has the same minimum aging requirements (15 months for a NV and 36 months for a vintage). It gets its colour from either the addition of a small percentage of red wine (Pinot Noir or Pinot Meunier) which is added to the final wine - this method is not permitted anywhere else in France. Or the colour can come from maceration - soaking the skins of the black grapes with the juice to extract colour and flavour. This is known as the Saignee method, most notably used in Laurent Perrier Rose. Rose Champagnes usually command a higher price than their NV and Vintage Brut counterparts.
