Cielo have 100 over years of wine making experience and produce wines which all offer great fruit and complexity. They practice organic vituiculture, without the use of chemical pesticides and herbicides, and all their wines are vegan friendly. In 2020 Cielo obtained the B-Corp certification, entering a global movement that aims to spread a new and more evolved business model, rewarding the sustainable practices of the company. In 2022 they joined VIVA, the specification of the Ministry of Ecological Transition for measuring the sustainability performance of the vine-wine supply-chain. We are proud to work with such a forward-thinking winery.

The Italian region of Veneto has a roll call of famous global exports at the heart of its success. Prosecco, Valpolicella, Soave and Amarone are all products enjoyed around the world and their contribution to Italian wine is well documented and significant. Located in the north-east corner of Italy, centred around the city of Verona, Veneto has many important wine producing areas and more than a quarter of the output is sold as high-quality DOC and DOCG wine. Many grape varieties have homes in Veneto, and the region produces the full range of styles, from crisp whites to inky reds and sweet wines like Recioto, an intense dessert wine made from sun-baked shrivelled grapes. In the reds fruity, easy-going Valpolicella contrasts with the intense, dark wines of Amarone, while crisp, linear Pinot Grigio and always favourite sparkling Prosecco, made from the Glera lead the charge for Venetos whites. Other important grape varieties include Garganega, used to produce the sophisticated white Soave wines.

Though still wines made from Glera are available, the variety is chiefly responsible for Prosecco, an Italian sparkling wine with an easy-going nature and lighter style that has seen exponential growth across major export markets in recent times. Made in the Veneto region of northeast Italy Prosecco is often aromatic and crisp with yellow-apple, pear, white peach and apricot flavours alongside subtle aromas of blossom and citrus.
