Carignan
Carignan
Planted extensively across the South of France, Carignan is a high-yielding red grape used primarily in blends. With high acid, strong tannin and a deep colour, varietal wines can often yield a bitter wine with rustic tannin. In very good years and when used in blends the addition of Carignan can provide structure and depth, along with adding flavours of spice pepper and dark plum.
