Carmenere
Carmenere
The Carmenere grape was originally planted in the Medoc region of Bordeaux and produces deep red wines, which blend well with other varieties. Now found predominantly in Chile, Carmenere favours a warm growing season in moderate to warm climates. Carmenere wine has a deep red colour and aromas of red fruits, spices and berries with gentle, soft tannins and a medium body. Good varietal examples impart a cherry flavour with smoke, spice and chocolate notes and a deep crimson colour.
