Negroamaro

Negroamaro
Negroamaro is a red wine grape variety native to southern Italy. It is almost exclusively grown in Puglia (the ‘heel’ of Italy), particularly in Salento. Negroamaro‘s literal translation is black-bitter and produces thick-skinned, deeply coloured purple-black grapes, off high-yielding vines. Wines are earthy, with good tannin and woody spice notes - cinnamon and clove are common. Negroamaro is used mainly in blends, and works well alongside Malvasia Nera, Primitivo and Sangiovese.
