Billecart-Salmon was founded in 1818 by Nicolas Francois Billecart and his wife Elisabeth Salmon. Located in Mareuil-Sur-Ay, Champagne, Billecart-Salmon is a medium sized Champagne house and is currently run by the seventh generation of the Billecart-Salmon family. The family retains complete control over production and uses some biodynamic techniques while avoiding the use of pesticides and herbicides. The Cuvee Nicolas-Francois Billecart 1959 won first place in the Champagne of the Millennium 1999, out of 150 of the finest 20th century champagnes
