After the phylloxera crisis, the Chateau du Retout estate only came back to life in the 1950s, when they were acquired by the Kopp family. Located in the Haut Medoc appellation of Bordeaux, the chateau`s vineyards spread across 34 hectares. The terroir consists of two main soil types, clay and gravel at the bottom of the rise and deep Garonne gravel on the top. The planted vines have an average age of 30 years and are 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot. The density of the planting of the vines is 6,666 vines per hectare.
