There is more than one chateau in Bordeaux with the name Ducru in it, but when you are talking about Ducru, you mean Ducru-Beaucaillou. Located in Saint-Julien, Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou is regarded as one of the top 10 estates in Bordeaux. Named after the beautiful large stones found in its unique terroir, the estate is owned and managed by Bruno Borie, and has been within the Borie family for the last 60 years. The vineyard stretches across 75 hectares with a high density of vines planted at 10,000 vines per hectare. This enables competition between the vines allowing the best possible wines to be made.The vineyard is planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. Great for laying down and very impressive, powerful wine.
