Like many Bordeaux chateaux, Gressier-Grand-Poujeaux is named after a former owner, in this case, Andre-Pierre Gressier de Poyen, who owned the property in the 18th century. The estate is currently owned by the Merlaut family, who also own Gruaud-Larose, Chasse-Spleen and Haut-Bages Liberal. Typically equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot the wines are ready to drink when young also offer the ability to develop their rich, fruity character further with some bottle age
