Chateau Gruaud-Larose
Chateau Gruaud-Larose
Chateau Gruaud-Larose is a Second Growth Bordeaux property, situated in the appellation of Saint-Julien. The chateau has belonged to the Merlaut family since 1997 and they introduced sustainable development and organic farming methods in the vineyard, along with significant investment in the winery, while bringing a more refined style to the wines of the estate. The 80 hectares of vineyard land is on a single block of deep gravelly soils that are made up of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The wines vary from rich, punchy older wines, to a lighter, refined style seen in modern vintages.
