Chateau La Croix des Moines is located in the heart of the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux. It has been owned by Jean-Louis Trocard since 1976, whose family has owned vineyards in Bordeaux since the 16th century. The property consists of eight hectares of vineyards planted with a majority of Merlot, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The vineyards are ideally sited and lie on deep gravelly topsoil with iron-pan in the subsoil. The grapes are hand-harvested and the wines are matured in oak barrels for 14 months. This is one of the best properties in Lalande-de-Pomerol and offers some of the best value wines to be found in Bordeaux today.
