In Robert Parker’s Guide to Bordeaux Chateau Les Cruzelles is rated as one of the `outstanding` Lalande-de-Pomerol chateaux. This 10-hectare estate is under the eye of Denis Durantou, a renowned Bordeaux winemaker from l’Eglise Clinet, whose reputation as ‘the man of the soil’ couldn`t be more of an understatement. The vineyards are planted with 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc, with a small production of around 2000 cases per annum.
80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Intense and brooding dark fruit nose of blackcurrant and cassis with added spice. Rich and concentrated texture balanced by supple and smooth tannins. A dense core of black fruit, cinnamon spice and coffee tones seal the deal. Bravo! JG. Tasted at Chateau L’Eglise Clinet (April 2019). Drink 2... Read more

Although located in Lalande-de-Pomerol, the Les Cruzelles vineyard lies just 1km from Pomerol and the famous (also Durantou owned) l`Eglise Clinet where grapes are grown on clay soils and produce a wine that punches well above its weight. A superb wine for its price.... Read more

More, intensity than the La Chenade…good start. Bright, red cherry with added bilberries on the nose. More Autumn berries with brambles fused with black cherries in the centre. A slightly saline edge, reminds me slightly of the 2006. Plenty of toasty and a fine tannins. Well done Denis. Bravo. Drink 2024-2036. JG (Tasted at Eg... Read more
