The owner of fabled l‘Eglise-Clinet in Pomerol and Saint-Emilion’s Saintayme, amongst others, is one of Bordeaux’ most enigmatic wine personalities and his wines are some of the region’s most highly regarded. Durantou bought Chateau Montlandrie in 2009, and has swiftly increased the property’s reputation by delivering consistently excellent Merlot-based wines from the 12-hectare vineyard, with full, opulent fruit, heady spice and fine tannin. This has a more broody bouquet than the two Lalande-de-Pomerols, just a touch of leafiness originating from the Cabernet Sauvignon that enhances the complexity.
