Chateau Mouton Rothschild

Chateau Mouton Rothschild was famously promoted to First Growth status in 1973, and is the only Bordeaux chateau to have achieved this feat since the 1855 classification. Baron Philippe de Rothschild introduced the `artists labels` with his first vintage in 1924, and each year the different labels become collectors` editions. The estate is now run by his daughter, Philippine de Rothschild. Known for its exuberant, rich and densely structured style, the extreme age-worthiness means that even wines from the 1960`s still taste fresh, vigorous and youthful. Chateau Mouton Rothschild has 84 hectares of vines in Pauillac, planted with 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc on an exceptional terroir, with optimum soil quality and sunshine exposure.
