Chateau Musar
Chateau Musar
With a wine history stretching back to 4000BC, Lebanon is no stranger to producing wine. Mention Lebanon and wine in the same sentence though, and only one producer is likley to spring to mind - Chateau Musar. Founded in 1930 by Gaston Hohar, Chateau Musar produces wine from introduced and native varieties, most notably Cabernet Sauvingon, Carignan, Cinsault and the local grapes Merwah and Obaideh. Chateau Musar was also the first producer in Lebanon to achieve organic certification for its vineyards. Most are located in the Bekaa Valley, cradled between two mountain ranges running parallel to Lebanon’s Mediterranean coastline.
