Chateau Picque Caillou

Chateau Picque Caillou

Chateau Picque Caillou, whose wines were favoured by Napoleon I, was designed and constructed in 1780 by celebrated architect Etienne Laclotte. He converted the castle into his summer folly, enjoying the fine nature of the Aquitaine climate. A hundred and fifty years afterwards, in 1949, Bordeaux trader Etienne Denis aquired Picque Caillou and together with his son they enlarged the vineyard area to its present 20 hectares. Since 1997, the Chateau has been the property of Isabelle and Paulin Calvet.
