Chateau Troplong Mondot

Chateau Troplong Mondot is located in the St. Emilion appellation of Bordeaux and dominates the entire village the surrounding land to the north east. The estate is 33 hectares which makes it one of the largest estates in St. Emilion many in the appellation are fewer than 10 hectares. The soil is thick limestone under a dense layer of clay with a good supply of underground water providing fertility to the vines with the oldest being planted 90 years ago. The vineyard is made up of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are picked by hand with three criteria in mind. ripeness checks, tasting of berries, differences between the estate’s various terroir.
