Scheid Vineyards
Scheid Vineyards
Al Scheid first purchased a 10-acre parcel located on the edge of Greenfield, Monterey County in 1972. Monterey winemaking was still in its infancy; however, Al was drawn to the region for its untapped potential. Almost five decades later and having been joined by his son Scott and daughter Heidi, the family business has changed from selling its entire production, to a grape-to-glass estate that produces authentic and elegant wines. Furthermore, the family are fully committed to sustainable production; all vineyards are certified sustainable, all wastewater is recycled, grape must is made into compost and reused as nutritional spread in the vineyards, as well as implementing drip irrigation. As Al once said, `great wine begins in the vineyard`, and this family motto still rings true today.
