Costers del Segre
A small wine region of north-east Spain, in the province of Catalunya, Costers del Segre has a long history of wine production, and today produces across its seven districts. The area has a continental climate, with long, hot days and tiny levels of rainfall. A range of soils marks the elevated vineyards, suitable for producing a broad palette of grapes. Many of the cooler vineyards are used for producing grapes that will end up in Catalunya's signature sparkling Cava wines. Drier warmer areas are home to the Spanish favourites Monastrell, Tempranillo and Garnacha, while the regions have also had great success cultivating international varieties, namely Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
