Cotes de Bordeaux Blaye
Cotes de Bordeaux Blaye
A Bordeaux region for both red and white wines made in the Blaye district, which lies across the Gironde from the Medoc. Created in 2009 as an appellation in the wider Cotes de Bordeaux region, wines previously known as Premier Cotes de Blaye are now under Cotes de Bordeaux Baye title. Traditional Bordeaux varieties are most prominent – Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet franc for the reds and Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle for the whites. Soils are a mixture of clays and gravels and the wines represent a diverse range of styles flavours. Soft, well-structured wines that are well-positioned for early drinking are common.
