Cru Bourgeois

Cru Bourgeois

This is an evolving left bank classification for red wines of the Medoc which was officially approved in 2003 by the French minister of Agriculture. There are approximately 250 wines which are allowed to be labelled 'Cru Bourgeois' and they make up around 40% of the Medoc's total production. Members must reapply every year for inclusion into the classification and an independent tasting committee assesses the wines for quality. These wines are usually high quality and offer great value.
